Online-Based Learning of Madrasah Aliyah Purwakarta in the Covid-19 Pandemic Era

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic forced all sectors to restrict the movement of major activities involving public mobilization, including the world of education. The education system that runs during the pandemic is carried out online to minimize the risks faced, especially for students in school.

This study aims to identify and describe the e-learning-based learning process with supporting and inhibiting factors for the implementation of Islamic Religious Education Subjects and Cognate Subjects at Madrasah Aliyah, Purwakarta Regency during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research is a descriptive qualitative research with data collection techniques through interviews, questionnaires, observation and documentation studies. Data analysis used in the form of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions through testing the validity of the data with the extension of triangulation observations and discussions with colleagues.

The results showed that e-learning or web-based distance learning using computer or internet technology in Islamic Religious Education Subjects and Cognate Subjects applied at Madrasah Aliyah Purwakarta Regency during the COVID-19 pandemic was carried out by utilizing various types of digital platforms, namely Google Classroom, Google Meet, Zoom Cloud Meeting and WhatsApp Group. The inhibiting factors for the effectiveness of this distance learning program include the absence of students during learning due to factors of learning motivation and attention and minimal encouragement from parents/guardians, including learning support facilities such as smartphones and/or laptops/computers which are still limited and not up to standard which is often network disturbance occurs when teaching and learning activities take place. The supporting factor for the effectiveness of learning through this system is the massive use of information technology among students, especially in the context of education during a pandemic, where learning in limited face-to-face classes is in accordance with the Covid-19 health protocol standards. The conclusion of the study was that 80% of the learning process for Islamic Religious Education Subjects and Cognate Subjects at Madrasah Aliyah Purwakarta Regency was running effectively in accordance with government regulations through Circular Letter No. 15 of 2020.
