The Stimulation of Cognitive Development in Early Childhood Through the Numbers Bowling Game in the Era of the Covid-19 Pandemic

Abstract

Stimulation of the development of early childhood cognitive is supposed to be done with the learning process fun. But in general, learning is more oriented toward achievement of the ability.  This study aims to test the effectiveness of a game of bowling as stimulation that is fun to improve the ability to count the beginning of early childhood. The study used Quasi-Experimental with one group pre-test and post-test design to the 15 students in Group B were taken by purposive sampling. Data were collected with a test of the ability and the documentation that is processed with the test and Paired Sample T-Test. The results showed that the ability to count the beginning before stimulation play bowling figure is quite high (55,8%) and thereafter reach 78,3% of the ideal score that can be interpreted as high. The results of the hypothesis test obtained the value of Sig. 0.000 < 0.05 and  tHitung (27,495) ≥ tTable (2,1448), then reject H0 means that there are significant differences in numeracy skills in early childhood before and after using the game of bowling figures. It is concluded that the game Bowling figures effective for the development of cognitive early childhood, in particular, to introduce the basic concept of subtraction. It is recommended that carried out various modifications to the game that utilizes the natural world around students to use as educational games.
