Abstract

People  with mental disabilities are one of the groups of people with disabilities that get less attention. The low level of public understanding of mental disabilities also marks the discrimination they suffer. The WHO records 970 million people worldwide suffering from mental health disorders, while the Directorate of Response for Disabled Persons records 2.9 million Indonesian people with mental health disturbances with mental disabilities in central Java a total of 6,097 children, 37,517 adults and older, and 3,179 duplicate disabled persons. (fisik dan mental). The aim of this study is to find out the interest of people with mental disabilities in the poetry therapy and to know the effectiveness of clay media in the poetic therapy for people with a mental disability. The methods used are qualitative discryption and data collection techniques through observations, interviews, and documentation.
