Early Children Education Based on Local Culture

Indonesia is one of the countries known and recognized by the world as a country with character and culture. Attention to the importance of naming culture in early childhood has been increasingly seen in the curriculum of early childhood education; in the profile of Pancasila students, where there is a global diversity character, students, including early childhood, are expected to have a great love for Indonesian culture but still have thoughts open to interacting with foreign cultures. This study aims to explain the importance of learning early childhood education based on local culture. The method used is a literature review with data from articles, journals, books and other written works. The results of the study show that learning local culture in early childhood is very important, especially for early childhood development, besides that introducing local culture from an early age will form children with polite personalities who have a strong spirit of nationalism and will be able to be open-minded towards other cultures. Cultural learning in early childhood can be done by introducing the closest cultural values, such as the introduction of art, food, clothing, language, games, and traditional house buildings. In addition, collaboration between parents, school/community, and local government is essential for the ongoing learning of local culture in early childhood.
