The Role of Multimedia Tools in Developing Preschool Children’s Interest in Learning English

Abstract

This article explores the role of multimedia tools in developing preschool children’s interest in learning English. In early childhood education, motivation and emotional engagement are essential factors because preschool children learn most effectively through visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and play-based experiences. Multimedia tools such as animated videos, songs, interactive games, digital flashcards, audio stories, and educational applications create a rich learning environment that supports children’s attention, vocabulary acquisition, pronunciation, listening skills, and communicative confidence. The article is written according to the analyzes how multimedia-based English lessons can increase learners’ curiosity, participation, and positive attitudes toward foreign language learning. The study suggests that multimedia tools are effective when they are developmentally appropriate, teacher-guided, interactive, and balanced with real communication, movement, and play. However, excessive screen exposure and passive media consumption may reduce educational effectiveness; therefore, multimedia should be used as a supportive method rather than a replacement for teacher-child interaction. Recent educational discussions also emphasize that technology can improve learning opportunities when it is thoughtfully designed and pedagogically integrated.
