This paper discusses innovative approaches to teaching phonics in primary English classes and their role in improving young learners’ pronunciation, reading abilities and communication skills. The study emphasizes that phonics instruction helps children understand the relationship between sounds and letters, which is essential for developing literacy skills at an early age. Particular attention is given to interactive and student-centered teaching methods such as games, songs, flashcards, multimedia materials and digital technologies. The study also analyzes the views of Uzbek scholars on the importance of phonics and communicative language teaching in primary education. Furthermore, the research highlights how modern educational technologies increase learners’ motivation, classroom participation and confidence in speaking English. At the same time, several challenges are identified, including limited technological resources and insufficient teacher training in some schools. The paper concludes that innovative phonics instruction creates a more engaging and effective learning environment and significantly contributes to learners’ overall English language proficiency development.
